LIGURIA PAESI (ex) ABBANDONATI Colletta di Castelbianco

Colletta, frazione del comune di Castelbianco, è oggi abitata anzi quasi “esclusiva”. I suoi attuali abitanti, avendone comprato muri e servizi, desiderano la quiete e la tranquillità in una delle più belle valli della Liguria – semisconosciuta alla maggior parte dei liguri – la Val Pennavaire. Si trova nell’immediato entroterra di Albenga, ai piedi del “selvaggio” monte Castellermo (o Castell’Ermo o Peso Grande m. 1092), al confine con il Piemonte, lungo uno delle importanti vie del sale che dalla costa permetteva il trasporto e lo scambio delle merci con il nord su fino in Svizzera.
Ci fu però un tempo, non molto lontano, che Colletta era stato abbandonato. E lo fu per tanti e tanti anni, dal lontano 1878 anno del terremoto.

Cercando lungo l’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri paesi, popoli e storie sono arrivato tanti anni fa in mezzo a queste case che seppure in rovina rimanevano ritte a testimoniare con la loro silente presenza il fascino di un luogo, immerso nella pace degli ulivi, che sarebbe tornato a far parte della storia.
Queste fotografie, riprese prima che fosse acquistato e trasformato nel primo “villaggio telematico” in Italia ad opera del famoso architetto Giancarlo De Carlo, mostrano l’aspetto di uno dei tanti paesi liguri abbandonati che, fortunatamente in questo caso, è tornato a rivivere ed entrando di diritto in quella corrente archittetonico-sociale definita come neoruralismo. L’inaugurazione avvenne nel 1998 con un concerto per Theremin di Lydia Kavina, nipote dell’inventore del precursore di tutti gli strumenti elettronici Leon Theremin da cui il nome.

Il primo a credere in questa avventura da “aquile solitarie” (vengono così definiti suoi abitanti in quanto persone desiderose di stare in un posto ritirato ma a contatto con il resto del mondo tramite le cosiddette nuove tecnologie, per allora) è stato un professore di Genova che ho avuto il piacere di conoscere.
Ho avuto però il piacere di conoscere e fotografare anche l’ultimo abitante. Cosi si autodefiniva anche se nelle frazioni limitrofe era definito come “abusivo”. Fatto sta che abitava felicemente nei locali dell’odierna “Locanda delle Antiche Pietre” con le sue caprette coltivando gli ulivi dei terreni circostanti e ricavandone un ottimo olio.
Colletta di Castelbianco è entrata a far parte della ristretta cerchia dei “borghi più belli d’Italia” (19 in Liguria).

Colletta, in the municipality of Castelbianco, is now inhabitated and almost “exclusive”. His current inhabitants, having bought walls and services, want peace and tranquility in one of the most beautiful valleys in Liguria – little known to most of the Ligurian – Val Pennavaire. It is located in the hinterland of Albenga, at the foot of the “savage” mountain Castellermo (or Castell’Ermo or Great Weight m. 1092), on the border with Piedmont, along one of the main routes of the salt from the coast allowed the transport and the exchange of goods with the north up to Switzerland.
But there was a time, not long ago, that Colletta was abandoned. And it was for so many years, from 1878 year of the earthquake.

Looking along the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri countries, people and stories I got many years ago in the midst of these houses even in ruins remained upright to show their silent presence the charm of a place immersed in the peace of the olive trees, which would come back to be part of history.
These photographs, taken before it was purchased and transformed into the first “electronic village” in Italy by the famous architect Giancarlo De Carlo, show the appearance of one of the many Ligurian abandoned villages, fortunately in this case, he returned to new life. The inauguration took place in 1998 with a concert for Theremin by Lydia Kavina, grandson of the inventor of the precursor of all electronic instruments Leon Theremin hence the name.

The first one to believe in this adventure for “solitary eagles” (defined so its inhabitants are people who want to stay in a solitary place but withdrew in contact with the rest of the world through the so-called new technologies, by then, was a professor from Genoa I had the pleasure to know.
But I had also the pleasure of meeting and photographing the last inhabitant. So called himself though in the neighboring villages was defined as “abusive”. The fact is that he lived happily in the premises of today’s “Inn of the Ancient Stones” with his goats cultivating the olive trees of the surrounding land and obtaining an excellent oil.
Colletta di Castelbianco became part of the inner circle of the “most beautiful villages in Italy” (19 in Liguria).

PASSEGGIATE A LEVANTE Case Lovara tra Levanto e Monterosso alle porte delle Cinque Terre

Case Lovara è una piccola frazione lungo l’escursione che da Levanto porta a Monterosso. Alle porte delle Cinque Terre. Sicuramente, a mio parere, uno dei percorsi più belli e interessanti tra le Passeggiate a Levante.
In una delle case, tra quelle abbandonate da molti anni, c’era un proprietario che organizzava un semplice punto di ristoro, in estate, con la possibilità di consumare, seduti su tavoli e panche in legno, acqua e limone rinfrescante e qualche bicchierino di vino o sciaccetrà. Offriva anche riparo in caso di pioggia, temporali e altre necessità nel lungo tratto – a un’ora di distanza circa in entrambe le direzioni – in mezzo ai boschi e alla macchia mediterranea spesso non molto distante dal mare.
Tutta l’area è stata donata al FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), insieme a molti dei terreni circostanti, ed é stata oggetto in questi giorni di un accordo di recupero a livello regionale che dovrebbe portare beneficio con possibilità di sviluppo agrorurale ecocompatibile tra i molti terrazzamenti, parzialmente coltivati a vite e ulivo, perchè il luogo ancora quasi “selvaggio” fino alla Punta del Mesco sopra Monterosso e’ l’ideale per chi volesse “vivere” e “integrarsi” in un ambiente di rara bellezza.

Case Lovara is a small village along the hike from Monterosso to Levanto. At the gateway to the Cinque Terre. Certainly, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and interesting path of Eastern Liguria.
In one of the houses, among those abandoned for many years, there was an owner who organized a simple refreshment in the summer, with the possibility of eating, sitting on tables and wooden benches, water and lemon juice and a few glasses of refreshing wine or sciacchetrà. Also offered shelter in case of rain, thunderstorms and other needs during the long stretch – about an hour away in either direction – in the woods often not far from the sea.
The whole area was donated to the FAI (Italian Environment Fund), along with many of the surrounding land, and has been the subject of an agreement, in these days, of recovery at regional level for which it therel will be the possibility of developing an environmentally safe agricultural among the many terraces, partially cultivated with olives and vineyards, because the place has an almost “wild” scenery up to Punta del Mesco above Monterosso and ‘ideal place” for those who want to “live” and “integrate” in an environment of rare beauty.
