LAVATOIO ABBEVERATOIO DI BAVASTRELLI [Passeggiate a Levante series by Enrico Pelos]

Bavastrelli è all’inizio di uno degli itinerari che portano in cima al monte Antola nel Parco Naturale Regionale del monte Antola. La località si trova nei pressi del lago del Brugneto ed è raggiungibile da Torriglia o da Montebruno.
Proprio all’inizio del paese e dell’itinerario, in una piazzetta con posteggio, si trova questo lavatoio. Essi venivano costruiti, nei piccoli centri di campagna, all’inizio degli itinerari in modo da consentire la sosta e l’approvviginamento dell’acqua per gli uomini e gli animali che dovevano affrontare le mulattiere che collegavano i centri tra le diverse valli. I lavatoi/abbeveratoi erano anche punti di incontro e scambio di informazioni sia per gli abitanti del paese che per i viandanti.
Inizialmente costruiti in pietra vennero sostituiti da parti in cemento e il Parco, proprio per conservane l’importante memoria storica, ne sta curando il censimento e il restauro anche perchè, alcuni di essi, sono oggi importanti anche per l’habitat naturale e animale della zona.

Bavastrelli is the beginning of one of the routes that lead atop Mount Antola in its Regional Natural Park. The village is located near the Brugneto lake and can be reached by Torriglia or Montebruno.
Right at the beginning of the country and of the route, in a small square with parking places, there is this wash. They were built in small villages in the countryside, at the beginning of the routes in order to allow the stop and the water supply for men and animals that were facing the mule tracks that connected the centers between the different valleys. The wash basins were also points of contact and exchange of information for both the inhabitants of the country for travelers .
Initially built of stones they have been restoured with concrete parts and the Park Authority, just for the preservation of these important historical memory is taking care of the census and the restoration also because some of them are now also important for the natural habitat of the animal and the area.
