IRELAND – IRLANDA BEATLES Concerts a Dublino (ita-eng)

Da Beatlesiani non potevamo, una volta a Dublino, andare a vedere, tra le molte altre cose interessanti che offre la città, un posto sconosciuto ai più. Esso rappresenta però per molti un ricordo particolare ed è il palazzo di quello che fu un tempo l’Adelphi Cinema in Abbey street, poco lontano dal monumento al grande irlandese Daniel O’Connel (che come vedremo in seguito è legato alla città di Genova…). Il cinema venne chiuso nel 1995 ed è oggi un grande parcheggio, ma il 7 Novembre 1963 qui suonarono i Beatles. Essi fecero due concerti rimasti nella storia della musica irlandese, anche perchè non bisogna dimenticare che tre del gruppo, John, Paul e George, avevano origini irlandesi e ne erano particolarmente orgogliosi…

As Beatles fans we could not, once in Dublin, go and see, among the many other interesting things that the town has to offer, a place unknown to most of the people but which has a special memory for many and it is the building that was once the Adelphi Cinema in Abbey street. It is not far from the monument dedicated to the great Irish Daniel O’Connel (who, as we will see later, is linked to the city of Genoa…). The cinema closed down in 1995 and is now a large parking lot but on Nov. 7, 1963, the Beatles played here. They played in two concerts which remain in the history of Irish music also because we must not forget that three of the group, John, Paul and George, were of Irish origins and they were especially proud of it…

IRELAND – IRLANDA Il cielo (e il mare) d’Irlanda

L’Irlanda è uno di quei paesi che più possono stimolare la creatività dei fotografi ma che al tempo stesso ne può mettere a dura prova la pazienza e l’apparecchiatura.
Il tempo cambia moltissimo nell’arco della giornata con notevoli escursioni termiche. Se a questo aggiungete anche il forte vento che vi accompagnerà spesso… avete il quadro della situazione.
Ma… grazie proprio a questi cambiamenti, si possono avere cieli e luci molto particolari come potete vedere in queste mie fotografie…

Ireland is one of those countries which can stimulate the creativity of photographers but at the same time it can put a strain on the endurance and the equipment.
The weather changes a lot during the day with great level of temperature excursion. Furthermore a persistent and strong wind often accompanies you … well… you have the picture of the situation.
But … just because of these changes, you can have very special skies and lights as you can see in my photographs …

GENOVA (Italia) GALWAY (Irlanda) CRISTOFORO COLOMBO…

IRELAND – IRLANDA

Correva l’anno 1477 e un giovane navigatore, esperto ma non ancora famoso, risaliva le coste atlantiche dell’Irlanda alla ricerca di riscontri che supportassero alcune sue teorie. Si chiamava Cristoforo Colombo, proveniva da Genova e a Galway fece una tappa trovando alcuni riscontri importanti.
Genova regalò nel 1992, in occasione del cinquecencentenario colombiano, un’opera artistica con scritta in inglese, in Gaelico e in Italiano la cui traduzione così recita: “Su queste coste intorno all’anno 1477 il marinaio genovese Cristoforo Colombo ha trovato segni sicuri dell’esistenza di terre al di là dell’Atlantico” e “La città di Genova alla città di Galway, 29 VI 1992”

It was the year 1477 and a young sailor, experienced but not famous yet, was sailing along the Atlantic coast of Ireland in search of evidence supporting some of his theories. His name was Christopher Columbus, he was from Genoa and in Galway he found some proof for what he was looking for.
On the occasion of the Columbian Quincentennial, Genoa donated in 1992 an artistic work with writings in English, in Gaelic and in Italian as follows: “On these shores around 1477 the Genoise sailor Cristoforo Colombo found sure signs of land beyond the Atlantic” and “La città di Genova alla città di Galway, 29 VI 1992”
