45 itineraries (with 283 photos and 47 maps) among the many I have done in Eastern Liguria which varies from easily walking paths to more demanding hiking and trekkings. The book is fully illustrated with photos and enriched with reference maps and it is thought either for the tourist and the excursion traveller and trekker who wants to discover a landscape of beauty. The book accompanies the reader/walker not only to renowed beaches landscapes like 5 Terre but also to inland mount paths like in Antola, Aveto, Trebbia valleys, etc. or particular sites like Jasper Lagorara Valley, the Genoa ancient fortresses or the Staglieno Monumental Cemetery.

Passeggiate a Levante – DIGA DEL LAGO DEL BRUGNETO La grande siccità Del 1990
Durante l’inverno del 1989, nel Genovesato, non ci fu nessuna di quelle che sarebbero poi state chiamate “bombe d’acqua”. Anzi, dal cielo venne giù pochissima acqua.
Così fu la primavera e l’estate dell’anno seguente ed il Lago del Brugneto si abbassò ai livelli storici illustrati nella foto (scansione da diapositiva).
Si dovette così procedere alla distribuzione razionata dell’acqua, per un certo periodo, e diversi ospedali furono riforniti con autobotti…
Per fortuna, questa del 1990, fu l’ultima grande siccità che si ricordi.

Una visione d’insieme del monte di Portofino e del Golfo Paradiso ripresa all’alba da uno dei monti che fanno da corona al risveglio del Golfo e dei sui abitanti.
Il Monte di Portofino è uno dei luoghi più belli della Liguria di Levante. Da qui partono molti sentieri per passeggiate e mete turistiche.
Le località di Camogli, San Rocco, Recco, Sori, Pieve Ligure e Bogliasco sono lungo il Golfo Paradiso e meta di partenze per escursioni sia lungo la costa che sulle alture dei monti che le circondano, come ad essempio:

An overview of Portofino mount and the Golfo Paradiso dawn shooting from one of the mountains that surround the wake of the Gulf and its inhabitants.
The Monte di Portofino is one of the most beautiful places in eastern Liguria. From here you can have many hiking trails and tourist destinations.
The towns of Camogli, Recco, Sori, Pieve Ligure and Bogliasco are along the Paradise Gulf and point of departures for trips along the coast on the top of the mountains that surround them as for example:

Passeggiate a Levante – PASSEGGIATA ANITA GARIBALDI di GENOVA-NERVI (Ita/Eng)
La passeggiata, dedicata ad Anita Garibaldi, è nota con il nome di “Passeggiata di Nervi”. Essa è un importante luogo turistico di Genova che vanta, anche in inverno, un clima quasi sempre mite. Si svolge lungo un percorso particolare e unico, costruito in gran parte sulle rocce della scogliera a picco sul mare, e permette un rilassante e facile itinerario immersi nella natura, nel paesaggio. Si arrivare anche in treno e si cammina fino alla stazione di Sant’Ilario, resa celebre da una famosa canzone del grande cantautore genovese Fabrizio de André.
The walk is dedicated to Anita Garibaldi but is commonly known as the “Nervi walk”. It is an important tourist spot of Genoa where even in winter time the climate is almost always quite mild. It is built along a particular and unique rocks cliff formation and it allows a relaxing and easy route immersed in the nature and in the landscape. You can arrive there also by train and to walk to the station of Sant’Ilario, which was made famous by a song by Fabrizio de André the great Genoese singer-songwriter.

Camminavo nei giorni scorsi lungo la bella passeggiata Anita Garibaldi di Nervi per qualche interessante inquadratura fotografica e sono arrivato qui davanti…
Era un po’ di tempo che non andavo a Nervi e mi è venuto in mente, parafrasando la famosa canzone del grande cantautore De André, che questa del famoso ristorante Marinella, era una storia bella…
Costruito agli inizi del ‘900 venne poi trasformato in edificio razionalista dall’architetto Nicoli di Milano nel 1934, che volle rappresentarlo come una nave sulla scogliera e per tanti anni è stata una bella meta per cittadini e turisti in uno dei posti più belli di Genova.
Non è più in funzione da anni ed è entrato ormai di diritto nella categoria dei Luoghi Abbandonati … l’augurio, per l’anno prossimo, è che non ci rimanga per molto…

I walked in recent days along the beautiful Anita Garibaldi promenade placed in Nervi (Genoa) to look for some interesting photos and I arrived here …
I hadn’t gone to Nervi for a quite while and it occurred to me, to paraphrase a famous song by the great Italian songwriter Fabrizio De André, of this story telling about the famous restaurant called Marinella, along the Anita Garibaldi walk in Nervi which was a beautiful story …
Built in the early ‘900 it was then transformed into a rationalist building by the architect Nicoli from Milan in 1934, who wanted to represent it as a ship on the reef …
It hasn’t worked for many months and it is now in the category of the Abandoned Places … the hope, for the next year, is that it will go out soon…

AUTUNNO AL LAGO DI VAL NOCI
Il Lago di val Noci è un lago artificiale tra i monti dell’Appennino dell’entroterra genovese. L’invaso con la sua diga in calcestruzzo alta 56 m fu costruito tra il 1924 e il 1930 sul corso del rio omonimo e serve all’approvvigionamento idrico della città di Genova ed altri centri del genovesato. Esso è circondato da una cornice naturale di monti tra i quali spiccano il monte Bano (1035 m), il monte Candelozzo (1036 m) e l’Alpesisa (989 m) e nei quali cresce una fitta vegetazione di boschi di castagni, ontani, carpini, maggiociondoli, ciliegi selvatici e frassini. Diverse frazioni si affacciano sullo specchio acqueo: alcune sono abitate come Caiasca e Sanguineto ma altre sono ormai quasi disabitate.

The Val Noci Lake is an artificial one and is placed among the Appenines mountains of the hinterland of Genoa. The basin with its 56 m high concrete dam was built between 1924 and 1930 on the course of the river of the same name and is used for the water supply to the city of Genoa and other cities of the Genoese. The lake is surrounded by a natural setting of mountains like Mount Bano (1035 m), Mount Candelozzo (1036 m) and Alpesisa (989 m) and in which grows a nice forest composed mainly by trees like chestnut, alder , hornbeam, laburnum, wild cherry and ash. Different fractions overlook the water surface: some are inhabited as Caiasca and Sanguineto but others are almost uninhabited.

GENOVA ALLUVIONE 11 2011 – 2011 GENOA FLOOD
Da ore la pioggia fitta e persistente con meteo ad allerta 2 (il peggiore) cade sulla citta’ e l’acqua inizia a straripare da alcuni corsi d’acqua e dai tombini. L’acqua ha gia’ completamente allagato il negozio della Bottega Solidale che ha i locali sotto il livello stradale ed entrata in molti altri negozi e cantine al livello stradale di Piazza Tommaseo, di Via Caffa ed altre strade adiacenti. Nello stesso momento il torrente Fereggiano, normalmente di non grande portata d'acqua, invade Via Fereggiano e le strade seguenti. Il torrente sfocia nel grande fiume Bisagno che staripa in alcuni punti con l’acqua che allaga anche il piazzale davanti alla stazione Brignole ed arriva nella centralissima Via XX Settembre ma fortunatamente non in modo grave come nell'alluvione del 1970. In Via Fereggiano ci sono purtroppo 7 vittime e molti feriti.
Hours of persistent heavy rain with the level 2 of weather danger level (the worst) is falling down in town. The water in Tommaseo Square has already completely submersed the Bottega Solidale shop which is at under street level. The water has flooded many shops and building flats at street level. In that moment Fereggiano river, normally with a normal flux of water, flooded in Fereggiano street and all nearby road. This river goes into the big Bisagno river which is now flooding in the nearby roads in Brignole railway station square arriving in XX Settembre street in the center of Genoa, fortunately not like the 1970 flood. In Fereggiano street 7 are the victims and many are wounded.

Il torrente Cerusa, nell’omonima valle, ha origine anche da alcuni rii del Bric del Dente e sfocia a Voltri dopo aver percorso circa 9 km tra i versanti dei monti Reixa e Tardia. La particolare conformazione delle pareti rocciose strette e ripide delle valle e la climatologia del luogo hanno garantito un flusso costante di acqua nel torrente con una buona forza idraulica, per cui sin dai tempi remoti sono state attive molte cartiere. La più antica – quella di San Gorgio – risale al 1580 ed è ancora funzionante. La carta, prodotta con il nome “Genova” era famosa e ricercata a livello internazionale.

The special shape of the narrow and steep cliffs of the valley and the climatology of the area have ensured a steady flow of water into the river with a good hydraulic power, and since very ancient times many paper mills have been active. The oldest – that of Saint George – dates back to 1580 and is still working. The paper, produced under the name “Genoa” was famous and sought after internationally.

La Val Cerusa è una valle genovese e Fiorino, che deve il suo nome alle molte varietà di fiori, è il centro più importante. È ai piedi dei monti del Beigua e, pur esssendo non molto distante dal mare, presenta caratteristiche simili agli ambienti alpini.
I fenomeni di erosione, caratteristici del Parco del Beigua, hanno creato un paesaggio particolare spesso impervio ed hanno mantenuto il torrente in un ambiente naturale, sorvolato da diverse specie di uccelli nel periodo del loro sorvolo stagionale.

The Cerusa valley is a Genoese valley and Fiorino, which owes its name to the many varieties of flowers, is the most important center. It is at the foot of the Beigua mountains and although not far from the sea, has characteristics similar to alpine environments.
