Un insieme di viaggi sui prati e i monti (l’autore è un escursionista fotografo autore di pubblicazioni) ma anche nelle sonorità delle sperimentazioni musicali che ha intrapreso onde creare delle colonne sonore per le sue presentazioni fotografiche sia di slideshows che di filmati. A set of travels on meadows and mountains (the author is a hiker photographer author of publications) but also in the sounds of the musical experiments he has undertaken to create soundtracks for his photographic presentations of both slideshows and films.
Nel 2000 usciva il cd multimediale “Lungo l’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri” per conto dell’Associazione dell’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri e dell’UnionCamere di Genova

Il cd, con fotografie dell’autore, è stato elaborato come software, design, scelta delle musiche della colonna sonora – tra i quali un brano dei liguri La Rionda – e produzione del materiale fino alla confezione e apposizione del bollino Siae.
L’incarico di elaborare una presentazione dell’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, oggi datata perché con con i programmi odierni con pochi clic del mouse si assembla il tutto anche in grandi dimensioni, era stata per me – informatico al quale l’hw/sw per slideshow non offriva allora poco o niente (l’web era ancora di là da venire…) – quasi una sfida.
Le foto – originali da diapositive Velvia – avevo dovuto scannerizzarle. Non essietva nessun service e la digitalizzazione fotografica cominciava i piccoli passi con la grande novità dei PhotoCd della Kodak che portai anche dal mio amico fotografo Carlo che aveva un negozio. I files erano troppo grandi per i pc di allora che al massimo montavano un 486 con qualche mega di ram (si avete letto bene) e quindi ho dovuto ridurli a delle immagini a bassa risoluzione perchè il pc si sarebbe fermato. Gli hd erano poi al massimo da 420 Mb (anche qui avete letto bene). Per la presentazione ho dovuto preparare degli add-in che funzionassero con Power Point – unico programma di presentazione – per avere qualche effetto.
Stesso discorso per i files audio, riduzione della dimensione, senza scendere troppo di qualità sonora. Se erano troppo grandi il pc ci metteva molto a caricarli e di conseguenza la presentazione partiva in ritardo. Una volta fatto tutto il lavoro di selezione, sincronismo etc si passava alla masterizzazione. Un’avventura.
Qualcuno ricorderà ancora la tragica fantozziana scritta del “Buffer underrun“. La memoria aveva perso i dati per lo “sforzo” e anche se mancava solo un minuto dovevi buttare via il cd, perchè diventato inservibile. E ricominciare.
Un altro capitolo riguarderebbe le copertine che in massima parte dovevano essere fatte quasi a mano.
Comunque riuscii a fare le copie richieste e la presentazione piacque molto.
Parliamo di neanche 10 anni fa. Del Giurassico informatico insomma, o quasi.

The CD, with photographs by the author, is being developed as software, design, choice of music on the soundtrack – including a song by the Ligurian group La Rionda – and production of the material to the packaging and the SIAE procedure.
The task of developing a presentation about the Ligurian Mountains High Way trail, is today out of date, because with today’s programs with a few mouse clicks you all assembled a show also of a large dimensions, but it had been for me – to which the computer hw/sw for slideshows was not very little or nothing (the web was still to come …) – quite a challenge.
The photos – from the original Velvia slides – were all manually scanned. There was no photo scanning service and the small steps were just beginning with the big news of the Kodak PhotoCD that I took from Charles a friend photographer running also a shop. The files were too large for the PC so that at most a few were equipped with 486 megs of RAM (you read that right) and then I had to reduce them to low resolution images because the computer would stop. The HD was then a maximum of 420 Mb (again, you read that right). I had to prepare for the presentation few add-ins to work with PowerPoint – unique presentation program – to have some effect.
ThesSame it was for the audio files, size reduction, without loosing too much sound quality. If they were too big the PC took was long to load and therefore the presentation started late. Once you’ve done all the work of selection, timing , etc. you had to burn all in a cd. An adventure.
Does anyone still remember the tragic fantozziana written ” buffer underrun” . The memory had lost the data for the “effort ” and even if you had missed just one minute to throw away the CD , because it became useless. And start over. Another chapter would take the making of the cover also phisically as you had to do almost by hand.
However I was able to make therequested copies of the presentation and they were very pleased.
We are talking of about 10 years ago. Jurassic computer age, or nearly so.
