Avendo vissuto e lavorato in Gran Bretagna per alcuni anni, proprio durante le celebrazioni di uno dei suoi jubilee, siamo stati veramente rattristati appena saputa la notizia. Giornata triste ed è come se ne andasse un po’ della nostra storia in Inghilterra in un certo senso…

Having lived and worked in Great Britain for a few years, during the celebrations of one of her jubilees, we were truly saddened as soon as we heard the news. Very sad day for all the British people and all those who love England and it’s like a bit of our history there is going away in a way.

Andammo a vedere il concerto dei Kraftwerk alla Round House di Londra del 10 ottobre 1976 con luci ed effetti speciali (per quel periodo). Avrebbero suonato pezzi da “Autobahn”, “Radioactivity” e il famoso “Trans Europe Express”, già un mito musicale, ma anche confine tra le ultime sonorità hippie e l’iniziale invadenza delle tecnologie segnata dai ritmi robotici. I Kraftwerk, (Ralf Hütter tastiere, Karl Bartos percussioni, Wolfgang Flür percussioni, e Florian Schneider, flauto e violino) possono essere a buon titolo considerati i “padri di tutte le musiche elettroniche” …

We went to see the Kraftwerk at the Round House concert in London on October 10, 1976 with lights and special effects (for the time). They played “Autobahn”, “Radioactivity” and the famous “Trans Europe Express” already a music hit, but also a border line between the latest hippie sounds and the early invasion of technology marked by the robotic rhythms. Kraftwerk (Ralf Hütter on keyboards, Karl Bartos on percussion , Wolfgang Flür on percussion, and Florian Schneider playing flute and violin) can be well considered the “fathers of all electronic music” …

From Genova to Stonehenge with a 850 Fiat van customized as camper by the author

A journey with a lovely girl?

In 1975 I prepared a customized van (an 850 Fiat van customized as camper, quite surely unique in Italy in those times, with diy hidden double bed/sofa, diy wash basin pump, diy 2 fire cooker, fog and emergency lamp etc…) for a long journey with my lovely Rita. We started from Genoa (Liguria) with the falling snow, we crossed France, the Channel to arrive on the white cliffs of Dover in England. We drove then to the ancient and mysterious Stonehenge site…

Nel 1975 preparai un furgone personalizzato (un furgone Fiat 850 preparato come camper, quasi sicuramente unico in Italia a quei tempi, cotruenndo “fai da te” un letto matrimoniale/divano, assemblato un mobiletto contenete un lavello con rubinetto con pompa elettrica a 12V, un cucinino a 2 fuochi, completo di lampade antinebbia e di emergenza ecc . . ) per un lungo viaggio con lovelyRita. Partiti con la neve da Genova (Liguria), abbiamo attraversato la Francia e il Canale della Manica per approdare sulle bianche scogliere di Dover in Inghilterra. Abbiamo quindi proseguito fino all’antico e misterioso sito dalle grandi pietre di Stonehenge…
