KRAFTWERK Florian Schneider, uno dei fondatori, se n’è andato.
Ricordo come fosse ieri la prima volta che li vedemmo alla Roundhouse di Londra.
Una musica indefinita (a quel tempo) la loro ma che affascinava e ti ipnotizzava. Mitici il loro Autobahn (1974) e Trans Europe Express (1976) con il quale si viaggiava sia in realtà che con la fantasia. Sia in autostop che in treno, quando ancora si poteva viaggiare e trovare amici con poche lire in tasca e le frontiere erano aperte più di oggi.
Schneider era uno dei due cantanti ed un polistrumentista: suonava il sintetizzatore, il vocoder, il flauto, il sax ed altri strumenti.
Dal vivo, il loro concerto era già allora uno show multimediale con computer e tecnologie digitali con suoni ed effetti visivi sempre raffinati e belli. Lo show, seppur con una sorta di futurismo retrò con abiti antracite, camicie rosse e cravatte nere e capelli che parevano brillantinati ti trasportava in una sorta di mix futur-vintage
Avevano già programmato di tornare in Italia per celebrare il 50° anniversario della loro arte musical-tecnologica.

I remember how it was yesterday the first time we saw them at the Roundhouse in London.
Their music was indefinite (at that time) but of the kind that left fascinated and hypnotized. Their Autobahn (1974) and Trans Europe Express (1976) were legendary, with which you could travel both in reality and with the fantasy. Both by hitchhiking and by train at tehat time you could still travel and find friends with a few lire in your pocket and the borders were open more than today.
Schneider was one of the two singers and a multi-instrumentalist: he played the synthesizer, the vocoder, the flute, the sax and other instruments.
Live, their concert was already then a multimedia show with computers and digital technologies with always refined and beautiful sounds and visual effects. The show, albeit with a sort of retro futurism with anthracite clothes, red shirts and black ties and hair that looked like glitter, transported you into a sort of future-vintage mix
They had already planned to return to Italy to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their musical-technological art.

GEDRON SONIC YURTA MUSIC / DUPLEX RIDE (Musica elettronica/ambient/Trance)

Gedron è uno dei nomi che l’amico Gerry Gerardo Fornaro, oltre ad essere un climber super esperto, usa quando suona in quanto è anche un bravo musicista di musica elettronica/ambient/trance. Ieri 28/2/2015 si è esibito in una delle belle sale del Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce di Genova all’interno della cornice di una suggestiva Sonic Yurta accompagnato dall’amico musicista Iao Iao Aea del Duplex Ride ed una coreografia suggestiva con alcune movers. Andammo a vedere il concerto dei Kraftwerk alla Round House di Londra del 10 ottobre 1976 con luci ed effetti speciali (per quel periodo). Avrebbero suonato pezzi da “Autobahn”, “Radioactivity” e il famoso “Trans Europe Express”, già un mito musicale, ma anche confine tra le ultime sonorità hippie e l’iniziale invadenza delle tecnologie segnata dai ritmi robotici. I Kraftwerk, (Ralf Hütter tastiere, Karl Bartos percussioni, Wolfgang Flür percussioni, e Florian Schneider, flauto e violino) possono essere a buon titolo considerati i “padri di tutte le musiche elettroniche” …

We went to see the Kraftwerk at the Round House concert in London on October 10, 1976 with lights and special effects (for the time). They played “Autobahn”, “Radioactivity” and the famous “Trans Europe Express” already a music hit, but also a border line between the latest hippie sounds and the early invasion of technology marked by the robotic rhythms. Kraftwerk (Ralf Hütter on keyboards, Karl Bartos on percussion , Wolfgang Flür on percussion, and Florian Schneider playing flute and violin) can be well considered the “fathers of all electronic music” …

I Kraftwerk possono essere a buon titolo considerati i “i padri di tutte le musiche elettroniche” (magari insieme ai Tangerine Dreams…) da 40 anni a questa parte…
Il gruppo, di origine tedesca, formatosi a Dusseldorf nel 1970, era già un pò conoscituo in certi ambienti, ma questi strani musicisti che si muovevano come robots e che “emettevano” strani suoni sarebbero stati i precursori di una moltitudine di genere musicali. Non a caso Il MOMA ( Museum Of Modern Arts) di New York dedica a loro in questi giorni la prima “esposizione vivente” delle loro storia.
Nel 1976 vivevo a Londra e, conoscendoli, non potevo perdere la loro esibizione di “Authoban” e “Trans Europe Express” alla mitica Roundhouse. Certamente un mito musicale.

The group of German origin, formed in 1970 in Dusseldorf, was already a little known in certain environments, but these strange musicians that they did move like robots and “emitting” strange sounds were the forerunners of a multitude of musical genres. In 1976 I was living in London and, knowing them, I would not miss their performance of di “Authoban” and “Trans Europe Express” at the legendary Roundhouse. Certainly a musical myth

…In this quote there are proofs that Kraftwerk at least used one slide during this concert in september 1975 in the Uk. But since the texts is somewhat vague you could also read it as if they showed different static slides during the concert. So maybe Kraftwerk started using the slides first when they came back to Europe after the American tour or perhaps even on some of the concerts on the American tour.

PHOTO IS THE ONLY LIVE PHOTAGE FROM THE CONCERTS OF 1975-76 KRAFTWERK HAS EVER RELEASED OFFICIALY (and in this respect my photos are almost unique, note of photos author)
