Pentema è situato nella Val Pentemina, ed il suo lavatoio è situato all’inizio di uno degli ingressi del paese. È una frazione di Torriglia ed alcune sue zone fanno parte del Parco naturale regionale dell’Antola. Esso è diventato famoso, a livello internazionale, per il suo presepe che si svolge lungo le vie del borgo e che permette di “incontrare” molti dei personaggi tipici di un tempo che vivevano e lavoravano nei paesi dell’entroterra genovese e ligure. Il presepe si può visitare ogni anno, per diversi giorni, durante le festività natalizie. I personaggi sono ricostruiti fedelmente da artisti volontari della zona e sono a grandezza d’uomo, ecco perchè è possibile fotografare il lavatoio con le donne di un tempo che facevano il bucato. Il vecchio lavatoio è composto da due vasche separate, generalmente una era usata per insaponare e l’altra per sciacquare e, a quel tempo, si dovevano concordare dei turni per poterlo utilizzare. Durante il periodo natalizio può anche capitare che cada la neve rendendo così il paese stesso tutt’insieme un presepe a grandezza naturale.

The old wash basin consists of two separate pools, one was generally used for lathering and the other for rinsing and at that time, the women had shifts to use it. During the Christmas season it can also happen that the snow fall thus making the village all together a same-size nativity scene.
